十年以上前でしたか、スティーヴィー・ワンダー来日コンサートで、メンバー紹介の時、使われていたのが、この「What's Going On」でした。終わってから、初めて聴いたこの曲は何?と探し回った記憶があります。
後で、その話をすると、そもそも、それまで、「What's going on」を知らなかったのが信じられないと、呆れられてしまいました。ま、それ位の存在なのです。70年代ソウルの歴史を紐解くと、必ずや引き合いに出される名盤中の名盤だという事は、聴いた後、じっくりと、判ってきました。
去年観た映画「永遠のモータウン」の中でも、60年代は影に隠れていたスタジオミュージシャン達の名前が初めてクレジットされたアルバムとして、エポックメイキング的に取り上げられていました。
その他のマーヴィン・ゲイの伝説の数々は、敢えて、私が記すまでもありますまい。
スティーヴィー・ワンダーが参加したマーヴィン・ゲイのトリビュートアルバムは、以下。Stevie Wonderは、「Stubborn Kind Of Fellow」で快活な歌声を披露しています。

追記:もう一つ、思い出したのでご紹介。
Beautiful Day/Saya(2003/07/16)
Jazz Pianoトリオ編成のアレンジ。ジャケット写真のお嬢さんっぽい見掛けに依らず、なかなか、Funkyなピアノを弾く女性Jazzピアニスト。スティーヴィー・ワンダーの「I Wish」のカバーがゴキゲンなのだけれど、エレピの「What’s Going On」も良い感じ。

やっぱり「マーヴィン」と言えば「What's Goin' On」が挙がってきますよね。
私的には「Let's Get It On」でしたが。
でも「What's Goin' On」も大好きな１枚です。
トリビュート・アルバムもお気に入りの１枚ですよ！
ちなみに「Stevie」の中でイチバン好きな曲は「Lately」です。

カラオケで「ホワッツ・ゴーイン・オン」。気持ち良さそうですね。そういえば、この曲、私もハナウタ指数が結構、高いです。競馬帰りのオケラ街道の道すがら、頭の中で、「What's Goin' On～、What's Goin' On」と鳴っている事も多かったりして。たまには、「レッツ・ゲット・イット・オン」も鳴って欲しいです(笑)。

First of all I want to say fantastic blog! I had a quick question in which I'd like to ask if you don't mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out. I truly do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Appreciate it!
